Do I have to grind to fit 16" aluminum?

So I've read the threads and articles about grinding calipers to fit 15-inch wheels. There is a really good article and tutorial about grinding the Dana 60, but I haven't found any really good pictures and tutorial for a Dana 44 (or Corp 10-bolt, since they use the same hardware on the outside).

But what about 16-inch aluminum rims? I don't have a set in front of me, so I can't tell if the 16-inch aluminum has a larger ID than a 15-inch steel. Right now, I have a 15-inch steel and they don't fit, they require a wheel spacer to clear the caliper.

Anybody have experience or thoughts on 16-inch aluminum rims?

16" aluminum rims will clear fine.

For the record -- and for anyone wondering about fitting 15" steelies to a K20 -- my K20 has a Dana 44 front axle. Years ago when I got 15x8 wagon spokes, all it took was minor caliper grinding and the wheels fit okay without spacers. This was before internet so no pics, no tutorials, just a borrowed angle grinder and a few beers. Grind a bit, test-fit the wheel, grind a bit more....

Did the same thing with my 15x10s on my K20. Used a sanding flap wheel and spent a sunny afternoon BS'ing with a couple friends and sucking down beers while making 'em fit. Took less than 1/8" of material removed to clear.

What's the offset (or backspacing) of these 16-inch aluminum rims that you guys are using? My current rims stick out really wide, they only have about a 2.5 inch backspace, another half inch and they would clear the caliper even though they are only 15-inch wheels.
