67-72 Frame Swap

I know 73+ is not even close but does a 60-66 body work with a 67-72 frame?

also its a c20 and i would like to run 5 lug and disks.

I would love to find a c10 short 64-66 frame but they dont come around often in my area

there is a lot of good info out there on how to shorten them properly. find yourself a 73-87 !/2 t donor truck and put in the frt front end inc c/member and rear axle, you can convert to 5 lug then. if you can find a 71-72 they have 5 lug, but are getting a little more difficult to obtain for parting out. once in a while a short frame pops up, but I doubt many know where AVA is
you can get some of your upgrade brackets from captain fab here on the forum

Heh ya I changed my location I guess thats not very helpful....ava = arlington virginia anyway my welder is rated for 1/4 but splicing the frame is probably testing the limits of the machine and maybe my skills

sound like you are looking for a reason not to do it. here is the simple solution. cut it and put it together so that you have every thing aligned. tack it. hire a welder to come in for a hour to finish it off for you. make sure that you have more for him to do so maybe he can get some more time in. won't cost that much. if you use a 67 and up frame you still have to do frame welding

I think you are better off shortening the OG frame, then swapping in the disk brakes.

shortening my existing is starting to sound like less work.......assuming the operators skills are up to par is a lincoln 140 suitable for that type of welding? Its claims to be able to do 3/16 in a single pass and 5/16 on a double. I believe the frame is around 3/16 maybe a hair less.

less work is what this is all about. your welds should be good and on frames should be of good quality. like I said hire a welder for an hour or 2. it will be a small investment to know that it is done properly, 2 hours of welding will be about the cheapest thing that you will spend on your truck.

ya Im sure I can find a welder to come by I was just wondering if my machine is capable. My neighborhood is full of douchebags so I wanted to try and avoid having a mobile welding rig running in the driveway. Your not suppose to work on vehicles here(and I have no garage)but I do it anyway and keep a low profile. I know its hard to keep a low profile when your cutting trucks in half but every bit counts
