Lock cylinder ???
I need some help, at first the truck was not starting because it would not turn over in the key start position, I had to jumper the remote solenoid and it would start in the run position. Now when I turn the ignition key nothing happens no idiot lights nothing. The key turns easily, its not moving the ignition switch, the steering wheel will unlock, but I cant shift the auto trans. It’s a tilt column. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks Eagle

Sounds like either the linkage & starter switch is bad or the ignition cylinder went south. Or both. You won't know until you tear apart the column.

Sounds like the ignition lock cylinder has broken the metal shaft that moves the rod that moves the positon of the ignition switch on the column itself. Best thing to do it to tear apart the column and see what might have broken. Here's a great link to help you out. http://home.t-online.de/home/O_Scholz/steering.html If you need more help let me know. I've torn into my old one a few times. BTW: the gear compressor is a must!! You can rent for free (requires a small deposit) them at Auto Zone.

Ignition switch rack
I tore down the column and found the ignition switch rack was broken at the end where it connects to the rod. I called the dealer and they have a kit for it. So now i need to get the pivot pins out.
Thanks guys Eagle

I just made myself a two in one steering wheel remover / locking plate compressor tool out of a small slab of steel and a couple bolts I tore into a steering column at the wreckers the other day, and actually got mine apart before the other guy who paid 10 dollars to borrow the tool from the wreckers I ended up taking his apart too after he gave up :P
