Bought a 1985 silverado fix-er-upper today

Just paid $1500 for this original but faded gem off of craigslist.
Havent decided what to do with it yet, my daily will be my 85 c20 with 4l80e but this one looks nice enough to start with. runs but needs some work, all original. Needs a pass window. needs buffed. Nothing I cant handle.

heres pics. Havent picked it up yet but have the title and bill of sale in my hand.

Yeah I think I want it to be my test pig for my first bag setup. Know nothing about bags but have fab skills and want to try. DO they off a full kit for a simple bag installation?

Nice buy. It looks like it will clean up nice. The porterbuilt is nice kit. But so are the others mentioned before. Scotts hot rods n customs also offers a nice kit.

I'd like to see pics after its buffed! Recovering those old bench seats is so easy, even a caveman could do it.

would you happen to have a good picture of the molding that goes behind the cab? and does it have a black outline?

Yeah I think a good wax and buff will make that look like a totally different truck. Nice buy! Put some more pics up when you get it and cleaned up.

Re: Bought a 1985 silverado fix-er-upper today

Thanks bomp!

This weekend im going to get her running. So far ive replaced the front grille, painted the inserts blue, painted everything behind the grill black (it was silver spray paint) and buffed some of the truck. Came out very nice.

Old grille

New

Buffed a square to see the comparison

Then the door and fender

Thats an awesome buy for a shortbox. Looks good. Pass upper headlight needs replacing BTW. I would clean it up and fix the little things to get her running good and drive it.

Re: Bought a 1985 silverado fix-er-upper today

Changed the ignition switch and the neutral safety switch and she fired up but has a rod knocking. Gonna pull the engine this week. Kind of relieved because I wanted to start over anyway and itll give me a chance to pressure wash all the grease out of the engine bay and pissibly have the 700r4 rebuilt for it in place of the th350
Posted via Mobile Device

Also pulled the passenger interior door panel and found out it does indeed have a window in there but the window motor was bad so it wouldnt roll up
