Has Anyone Ever Seen A Truck Like This ?

Hello Everyone, I just joined this site to find out some information on a very odd chevrolet truck that I reasonately found. I have never seen another one like it and I want to see if any of you can give me as much information on it has I can learn. I have narrowed it down to being either a 47-48-49-or 50 year. The odd thing about it is it has a 3 door extended cab. There are 2 doors on the passenger side and 1 door on the drivers side. It also has a factory rear window on the back of the cab that rolls down. The tag on the inside drivers door pillar is very hard to read but I did see 16000# GVW. On the side of the hood it says "Chevrolet Loadmaster".I was told that it was a old power company truck that had a flatbed on the back of it. I can send pictures to someones email address but I have no idea how to post pictures on this site. Is there someone here that will send me there email address for me to send pictures to that will post them under this topic for me. I am eagerly awaiting to see what this thing is and just how rare it may be. Thanks, Tim tim423@centurytel.net

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen A Truck Like This ?

Tim, welcome and sounds like a cool truck.

You need a photbucket or off site photo hosting page. Post your pics in bucket and then view the "links" pick the 4th or last one and copy it. Paste it here and it will work for you. Being a first time poster and asking for us to send you an email may sound fishy to most. You can also find photo posting help. In the search feature

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen A Truck Like This ?

Sounds like it was made by a coach company for the power company. There were no factory crew cabs back then.

here's how you can post pics directly to the site from your computer.

How do I attach a file to a post?

To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'. To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.

On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'. Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments. You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page. Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.

To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file. To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page. Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window. You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

Kim57, Thank you for trying to explain this to me but you may as well be talking to a rock. I have no idea how to do any of that. I am NOT computer friendly. I can`t believe there have been over 155 views of my page and no one has offered to post pictures for me. That is why I joined this site was to let people see this truck and learn more about it. I guess no one wants to see it.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen A Truck Like This ?

Military used them on flight lines, logging companies as small crummies, etc. Aftermarket companies would could order a truncated cab (it shows in the spec manuals) on a longer frame and build extended cabs, small buses, airport tugs, etc.

nah, All the important stuff is still in tact.
I can't tell what the extent of the damage, or how it even happened.
But even if you did need a new frame, a 2500 longbed frame isn't that expensive.

Craiglist
ha ha
http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/3687682049.html
Found that in about 3 minutes
I'm sure you can find a cheaper truck, or something more suitable for it.
I assumed you would want a long bed to match the crew cab. But It's all up to the builder

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen A Truck Like This ?

Thank you for posting pictures for me. It has rust but I have seen alot of trucks that have started out in rougher condition than this. Yes it is for sale and I am probally going to buy it. Here in Michigan its not like your buying a truck that has been in Wyoming all its life with no rust. Its just a litttle bigger challenge until its done. Anybody else have anything like this ? This place has 9 other trucks sitting there all from 46-56. I can get a hood and fenders off them to fix this truck. Even frames and all other parts. There is also a very nice 39 dodge pickup sitting there. This stuff has never been for sale until now. The 92 year old man that owned them has passed away. Thanks for all you comments that are good and bad. That is what I want is everyones opinions.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen A Truck Like This ?

U.P?? now wonder this might have gone un deteceted for all these years.

The only thing that looks out of place to me is the size, shape of the rear window. I must admit that I have never seen anything like it.

Good luck buying it.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen A Truck Like This ?

Thats a really good start on a cool crew cab. Most of the hard to do fab work is already there. Replacing a floor is easy compared to making door posts and doors.....trust me on this one. I would snatch it up before someone else does.
