Drive Shaft Replacement?

Can anyone point me towards instructions on how to replace a driveshaft in a 1964 Chevy C10 Longbed? It has a 350ci V8 + TH350 Auto Trans. I also have the 1963 C10 shop manual but I'm not seeing anything in there regarding driveshaft replacement.

More background:
Currently whenever I try and put the truck in gear I am getting a very loud grinding noise and my neighbor was visually able to tell me that something was wrong with the driveshaft. Now I just need to get it out and have one fabricated (or have this one rebuilt)

I managed to get the drive shaft off successfully this weekend.

As far as I can tell the center carrier bearing it toast and the slip spline (not sure if that is the right term) appears to be sheared off the 1st part of the drive shaft where it meets the 2nd part.

I took it to a repair shop and they want ~$600 to repair it.

Anyone know if this is a good deal? Would it be better to just get a new one?

The shop manuals have the information under: propeller shaft

in the 1963 manual look in section 4, around page 4-98

on page 4-103 is a nifty diagram.

Lots of information all through that section there.

If you have a digital camera, snap a few photos of what exactly is broken on the "propeller shaft".

Thanks again Woogeroo. After you sent out the initial link I pieced together that the drive shaft is also called a propeller shaft and from there I found the info in the shop manual.

I called South Bay Driveline. They said they could replace my 2 piece with a 1 piece for $375 or they could build me a new 2 piece for $600.

I dont think your drive shaft should be moving if your setting still or was the truck moving when you hear the grinding noise

thebobbykey I believe the grinding noise was from metal on metal rubbing vibration where shaft was severed.
