Led lights
Hey guys on my 66 C30 I put a new LED turn signal on the right side to try it out. No workie. So I went to the parts store and bought a new flasher that is supposed to work with LED and standard. Still no good.
A thought did occur, do I have to have both units in? Other ideas? It did work before I made the switch and the left side still works. Posted via Mobile Device

Grounds! Also had the same issue with led bulbs so I went with whole lens and such from classic parts

Not sure which type you have, but if they have to be wired in to the sytem, it is critical they are installed correctly for negative and positive. Diodes only allow electrical flow in one direction, so if the wires get reversed no light will be emitted.

I have found that the best LED flashers to use are the ones that have their own ground wires attached to them. I have tried several of the direct replacements with limited results.

I too did the flashers with built in ground wires.

I'm running HID headlights and LED's for front and rear tail/signals. Summit Racing P/N UPD-90651 is a good flasher with a ground wire attached. Works great for me. Hope this helps..

Verdell will that summit part work with both led and conventional? It'll be awhile before I can switch out the rear.

Painless Wiring also carries them (PainlessLED flasher, PN 80230), but don't we need a two prong flasher (vs. the three prong shown)?

Hey guys, I sell the UPD-90651 and have them is stock (two prong and three prong and also the polarity adapters which is needed for GM applications), I have played with them on all sorts of combinations of lights. They work on all combinations including multiple incandescent set ups. The only problem with them is if you have a burned out bulb you can't tell as the flasher will flash anyway. The cool thing about them is that they flash the same speed no matter the load.
I also handle the LED lights for these trucks, park lights, stepside tail and fleetside tail lights. Three prong flashers are usually for the aftermarket harnesses that you wire yourself. |

I do not have experience with LEDs but on the stock stuff we soldered a ground wire to every light housing on my 66 and ran seperate ground wires back to a commom grounding block. No more dim lights........no more chasing bad grounds. Kieth
