65pannel-tinker
Ok guy's I found this site shortly after finding and buying this old riugh dag form a local junk yard, loved and got toooo many ideas...
The story goes, After divorcing my last wife almost 12 years ago, I told myself that I wasn't going to build another ride that my wife or wife like person would convince me to sell. So This is my first build in over 12 years and I"m pretty excited. I still need to figure out how to get pics and stuff posted as I go so please be patient I will get their... Build plans- I have aquired a 92 1ton van and am going to use the 350 tbi (freshened with a bit more power) and the fresh 4l80e trans in it.along witha long list of useable parts from it freshened up like...The colum, driveline, fuel tank and pump, possibly some of the suspension...She'll get dropped to the weeds. wheels and tires have got me thinking hard cause I love big tires and wheels but fitiment is iffy..I have 3 differenet sets i'm debating on 22inchers, 16 inch inner clip type, and another set of o.e.style 17 inchers with the holes all the way round... I named her tinker cause It's what my girl say's i'm always doing, tinkering... |

Re: 65pannel-tinker
Damn fine week..So I was at the scrap yard, laid down to pull a rear sway bar, sat on my camers and broke it ....LOL...been trying to use the phone, we'll see later how it works..
I got my donor to the house and started going over it. the fuel pump had quit working ( funny story I'll tell later ). Ant way burnt wireing harness in the last harness that goes into the tank was all melted together so I'll have to remedy that... found out that my tilte han't shown up yet...( no biggie it will ) ..Sucks I can't bring it home yet, but keeps me going out their looking for stuff... Will be working on gettin the donor apart, cleaned up and checked over for the next little bit....This will be a fairly slow deal mostly cause my back and all the joints in my body are toast so be paitent with me... On with it...... my daily driver

Re: 65pannel-tinker
Good day, I know have not done a thing with this build thread. In my own defense, I have been waiting on a title for what seems like forever, so I kept myself busy with another project that I'll post up some pics of if I can figure out how....But Alas it will soon be gone and I should be able to get to this project very soon...I can't wait as it will be my semi-daily driver...thanks for stopping in and for your patients ...

Re: 65pannel-tinker
wow cant believe I figured out how to post a pic....Any way ...wrong year for thread AGAIN...Ha Ha ....I bought that 89 as a daily till I got my 65 home and now she needs to go......I have to say Kudos to the DMV here where I live because they were such a big help in fixing the title problem I had....Somehow, after waiting almost 5 months for a title to come through. It showed up as a 1955 Panel on the title. So way different that you would think they would fix it at a glance, But NOOO...The guy I purchased it from did everything in his power to get them to correct it but his county assessor told him it is what it is and they could do nothing about it...So after talking to the DMV where I live. They asked me to take some pics and show them some numbers to give them an idea of what I was talking about.....So I came home, got on this site and printed out some pics of trucks and vin decoders etc., took it down their and they corrected it on the spot for me....YEAH...
I have spent the past month painting a horse trailer for a guy so that I could afford some more parts....I have decided ( almost certainly ) to do a front and rear suspension swap from a Jaguar XJ so stay tuned as I will be finally starting on this thing In the next week or two....Thanks for being so patient with my broke down slow old ass.... Oh I found this company...still in business since 1964 in Salt Lake City, UT..Cool HUH

Re: 65pannel-tinker
Looks like you have an interesting project in the works. Im in for the long haul as you have stated,” you’ve watched my build for over a year now.” Geesh,,,,,,,,has it been that long?
Jag front and rear along with possible 22’s. This is what I’m really into,,,, Modifications that is. I will definitely be checking in and following along. Do you have any pics from past projects? |

Re: 65pannel-tinker
Quote:
Several reasons, It narrows it about 1.5 inches and is performance based for handling, 4 piston caliper disk brakes and power rack and pinion all rolled into a compact set up... The rear is independent with 2 piston calipers... should corner like it on rails....

Re: 65pannel-tinker
ok. IHere are some pics of my progress....I know I've been neglecting this thread but I have new resolve...I think...Been doing all the mock ups...The front suspension is in The motor and tranny mounts are tacked up and ready for final adjust and holes drilled...My goal is to make it all serviceable of course. I am trying to figure out what to use for headers because of the rear mounted rack and pinion it's gonna be tight and I'll probably have to make them ...We'll see. Been pondering and working on the rear for the past few days and finally pulled the trigger on how to get it done the way I want...Stay tuned for those http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...45279pic's and enjoy these for now

Re: 65pannel-tinker
I also got myself a new daily driver that I had planned on just driving it like it was...But Alas , I can't seem to leave anything alone or stock for some reason ...Humm, I think I have That ATDD like most of us here have...LOL Ant ways I Jack my own thread to show what takes up some of the time I should be spending on my ride....And one last note ...Ya, that a garage I have their, I know it's small but it's mine and it's the first time I've had a place for my project to sit in one spot as I rebuilt it.In the past This was usually done at my job or a buddies house and I would have to move it around a lot while fixing it up SOOOO I'm just really exvtied to have a place to do body work that wonhttp://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/attachment.php?attachmentid=12http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/attachment.php?attachmentid=1248972&stc=http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/attachment.php?attachmentid=1248973&stc=1&d=13990463631&d=139904629648971&stc=1&d=1399046274't get rained on...

Funny My last post was about a new daily driver....Well, so is this one . out with old and in with the older...Got this 91 e cab dually ..I promise to load pics within 2 days of progress. I hated the red interior in the 91 so I changed it to grey and black and such.. also trying to get the camp trailer dialed in so I can use it....I did get a bit more done on the 65 but my butt has not loaded pics in a bit as I been have ol'lady issues for months...Is all good though...Have a splendid day all...Ha
