rear flip kit ?'s

I have a 1975 Jimmy but I think the Blazers and trucks 73 up are pretty much the same in the rear suspension. Has anyone installed a flip kit without a c- notch? Did you have enough clearance for driving? I ask because I've seen a couple of advertisements that sell the flip and say you don't need a c-notch. It seems to me I'll end up with about 3" between new bump stop and rear end housing which seems a little tight.
