Another 14 Bolt Question...
Right now i am in the middle of making my blazer finally drivable. Last time I was home, I lifted the back of it up to check and see if it had a locker or anything (I bought it with the 14 bolt already in) and when i spun the driver side wheel the passenger side didn't move at all but the yoke did. From reading up on other posts both the g-80 and an open diff should rotate in opposite directions. Is the carrier blown? thanks!

Re: Another 14 Bolt Question...
The brakes could be tight on the side that doesn't spin. If you bought the truck with that axle I would pull the cover, take a look, and change the diff oil. It's cheap and you can confirm the carrier type and bearing condition. It could even save you money down the road if you catch something slightly wrong before it destroys other parts inside.

Re: Another 14 Bolt Question...
With an open diff a couple of different things can happen, and you've described both. If the opposite tire won't turn, the driveshaft rotates. Put it in park or in gear and try again. The wheel on the other side should turn the opposite direction. If they are locked, they are locked it can't sit there while you turn. A worn out posi MIGHT but probably not. Most 14 bolts were open so that's probably what you have.

Re: Another 14 Bolt Question...
Right now the drive shaft is out so that makes sense. Definitely makes me feel better, I still plan on pulling the cover and checking everything. Thanks for the help guys

Re: Another 14 Bolt Question...
I have a 14 bolt 1990 SS under my 67. The g80 locker rotates both wheels in the same direction with the trans in neutral and the tires off the ground on my truck.
