Headlight adjustment

Hello all,

I have been running into problems trying to adjust the driver side headlight on my 84 c10. The top adjustment screw does not screw in, everytime I try it feels like it jumps a thread and the light ends up still facing down. I thought the screw and bracket was the problem so I changed them out but with the new screw and bracket it is still doing the same thing. Can anybody think of what can be causing this? I'm thinking it might be the spring at the bottom of the headlight.
