Well, I THINK I finally got my starter fixed
With about ¼" worth of washers on the outside pad, I think it's finally shimmed close enough to stay working. But now..my stupid carb doesn't wanna work. My truck won't run for CRAP! I think I may have either fouled a plug, or somehow/somewhere I have a vaccum leak. At least I finally got the truck pulled in the yard, so no one can mess with it. (Live kinda in a bad hood.) So, I'll spend 2moro putting in a new of NGK spark plugs (I have crappy Bosch Platinum's in there now) as well as making SURE I DON'T have a vacuum leak. It's funny, cuz I can either get it to run too lean, or too rich at idle...If I would have never taken the carb off, it'd be perfect

I've heard the Bosch plugs better suit foreighn cars, is that right? Gotta love those Holleys! That's why I got rid of mine.

Is it maybe flooded after attempting to start it? My truck did the same thing to me yesterday. Just let it sit for a couple hours, then get in, SLOWLY push the gas pedal all the way to the floor, hold it there for a minute or two, then try starting it. By having the pedal to the floor, it opens up the carb and lets air in to evaporate some of the gas, and provide more oxygen for combustion of the rest of the gas when you try to start it. Worked like a charm on my truck, its worth trying on yours before you go and buy new plugs and such.

NGK's are so much better. I've ran Bosch Platinum and NGK have been much better for me.
