Replacing transmission cooler lines
My lines running to my transmission cooler are leaking bad. I guess they are dry rotted. Loosing fluid like crazy.
So, I'm replacing them and was wondering about getting the air out of the lines. Will that come out okay via the filler/dip stick tube? Or should I do something to flush the air out of the output line? Turbo 350. Thanks, Scott

Re: Replacing transmission cooler lines
The air will just come out. Nothing to worry about. I've repaired trans cooler lines more times than I can count.

Re: Replacing transmission cooler lines
thanks! Thought so but I've not replaced them before and it's better to ask first than to find out otherwise after the fact.

Re: Replacing transmission cooler lines
Do not use fuel lines as a replacement....transmission fluid will break down the rubber

Re: Replacing transmission cooler lines
I suspect that is the problem. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Replacing transmission cooler lines
Go with steel. Its a little work, but worth it. Do you have a separate cooler or do they hook to the radiator? Inline Tube sells pre-bent steel or stainless lines.

I would like to run steel lines but the trans cooler has no fittings on either end and the hoses are attached via clamps. Thanks!

Re: Replacing transmission cooler lines
You just run steel then use a small 4" section of hose to make your connections. I always use good high pressure clamps, too.
