refresh my memory

Im going to be relocating a fuel cell under the truck between the frame rails on my 65 Chevy.I just got the truck and the previous owner put a late model engine alone with other late model things including a fuel pump.he put the fuel pump under the hood on the inter fender well.I remember reading something about the fuel pump needing to be closer to the fuel tank and either higher or lower than the tank.can some refresh my memory on where im suppose to mount the pump

Re: refresh my memory

If its got a carb, it doesn't matter far as I know. I would mount it in front of the tank on the frame somewhere.

Re: refresh my memory

An electric fuel pump needs to be as close as possible to the tank, and low enough so that it can easily draw the fuel from the tank. Depending on the design of the tank, gravity feed if possible. Electric fuel pumps are designed to push the fuel rather than suck the fuel very far.
