87 to 79 tub swap
Currently looking at a clean 87 tub to swap over on my 79. The goal is to stay original looking as possible. I know the 80's used a different style hood hinge that recessed into the cowl. My question is, with the dog house and cowl removed can you tell a difference in the 87 and 79 body/tub? any help is appreciated, if you know what I am talking about and would rather suggest a few words to type in the search box I am up for that also. Didn't have much luck on a clear answer searching on my own.
Thanks. |

Re: 87 to 79 tub swap
by chance do you or anyone know how the cowls differ? I can go look at my 79 no problem, but i do not have access to a 80's model. info/pics whatever you got is greatly appreciated. If this deal goes through I will be doing a resto thread.. thanks again.

Re: 87 to 79 tub swap
Yep. Patch that spot on both sides, and you should be good. The floor hump will be different around the shifter, so just unbolt and swap yours over. The floor will be the same, so that will eb easy. Make sure you don't mix up the body mounts, they are differen heights on the 73-80 and 81 up pickups. That might not be an issue on a Blazer, but measure them to be sure.
