Painting and lubricating Leaf springs

All, cleaned all the springs with a flap wheel and would like recommendations on priming and painting. Do you prime and paint all sides of the leaf springs and then spray them with the Graphite Poly Lube? Or do you paint only those sides that are not lubricated with the Dry Poly Graphite?

I'd paint all sides; I wouldn't want rust to return. I've never heard of using a SPRAY lubricant but I'm sure there must be one that would be helpful. I've always heard of using the Teflon strips sold by all the major aftermarket vintage truck parts providers. Seen like a spray will dry out rather quickly. I don't think the Teflon or poly strips ever wear out.

Any recommendation on primer and paint? Seems Por 15 doesn't have the elasticity for the flex.

Before you paint them grind a 30* edge on each spring end so it will "slide back and forth without digging into the one above it.

I also place a liberal amount of Never Sieze between each life before assembly, works for me!!!

i used poly leaf liner from brothers and por15 paint
any wet lub will attract dirt and sand i would think

solid axle, you recommend the POR 15 to be OK on all sides of the leaf springs? I'll try that. Love that stuff.

If I had some POR I would have used it instead of a rattle can black!
I looked at the springs the other day and there did not seem to be any collection of dirt after 7 years in the desert !

FYI - I plan to use a spray on Wet Graphite that will dry like spray paint. Its usually called dry moly. This is after the Poly filler and the POR 15.

Anypaint is better than none. Krylon works.

I put liner in between my springs and POR15 and then rattle canned them.

Doesn't the liner add thickness to the whole pack? Or are you removing a few leaves at the same time? I am also rebuilding my leaf springs on my 53

Cleaned and waiting for some 417 skim coat to be delivered. BTW - I am reusing my clips on the fronts because they are in good condition however the rear clips were too weak. I fabricated 8 new ones with 3/4" X 3/16" flat bar steel I bought at HD for rears. I'll grind a 30* in the top of each side leaf as solid axle says to do. Lots of work in rebuilding from scratch. WOW.
