Re: Any 47-59 4x4's?

74 K10 axles, 350th/np203 tranfer with Nash part time kit, on 59 frame and springs. 74 4 bolt 355 engine w/ unknown cam, Edlebrock intake Qjet carb. Bought the truck in 76 as a 6 cyl 3 speed, conversion to 4wd in 1985 with a 283 engine, drove it as DD for 15 years as work truck, hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling. This time upgraded the brakes, steering, interior, added AC and took all the rust out. Should be drivable by end of summer. Build thread has a LOT more detail, pack a lunch.

Re: Any 47-59 4x4's?

Napco only ran up to 56 for chevs, from then on it was factory installed parts, I've heard it was napco that supplied them. And mods to a true napco or factory 4x4, not smart, that kills the value big time. No one wants a slammed and bagged napco.

Napco 4x4 units were available through 1959. In 1957 Chevy installed NAPCO kits on the production line and you could also have it dealer installed. 1960 was the first year of a GM production model 4x4

Re: Any 47-59 4x4's?

I didn't work on me 52 GMC but I did some measuring and planning on my 72. I found out where the title is so I can use the frame for my Cummins project. It looks to be a pretty easy to fit the dodge running gear.

I just cant help it once I get 90% of one project figured out I start measuring on the next

Re: Any 47-59 4x4's?

Hi all,
Sorry to crash your party, But this thread made me want to add mine. I have lurked for a little while but I have to introduce myself. I love these old trucks on 4x4 frames. And i love the site! I bought my truck in high school, 25+ years ago, and promptly swapped over to a 77 blazer chassis, which allowed me to use the power steering, power disc brakes, rear mounted gas tank, I'm currently running 31 x 10.50 x 15. I have had multiple engines in her from a caddy 500 to a '76 chevy 350 to now a '87 305 with holley thottle body kit, never had nice paint job, but she looked good for a driver. she has been sitting for the past 8 years, but she has been put back on the road again. woo hoo! she has commercial tags so that means a full inspection here in jersey. but no issues. It is so cool to be drivung her again!

Great looking truck kingmike. My body has never had a nice paint job either. I love driving her too much to take her down

Re: Any 47-59 4x4's?

Here is my 2 1/2 ton 49 chevy that i am making 4x4. currently it has 3/4 ton chevy axles under it from a 79 chevy and has 16.5 rims. when it is all said and done i will have 37'' military tires on it. I still have to build a flatbed for it and find 2 old whiskey barrels that i can put behind each cab corner on the flatbed
