Need Chassis Help Fast

Sorry for the short notice but need info really fast. Have 56 3100, found a 1971 c10 chassis with disc brakes, short wheel base like my 56. Have seen mention on this site about putting body from my truck on this later chassis, how wide is the chassis on the 71 and is this an easy swap? I need to let this guy know if i want it by saturday, can anyone help.
Thanks,

Re: Need Chassis Help Fast

No experience, but have read threads here that people have used them. I would think it's a lot like an s-10 swap. build some cab/bed mounts, relocate a few things etc.

I doubt under the best of circumstances is swapping to the frame of an entirely different era "easy." If it were "easy" we'd all do it instead of adapting disc brakes to our straight axles suspensions or installing a myriad of IFS setups.

not all of witch are easy either. but if you have a good stock frame I would modify it. If you don't It couldn't be much more difficult than an AD to a s10.

Any frame swap takes time to get everything lined up right.

This might help

second time I have posted it this week. In the 80's I looked at TF bodies on other frames (Jeep wagonner and 70s gm trucks) and conversions like mine (74 axles on tf springs) and decided keeping the stock frame was cleaner and less work. I did not want the hassle of lining up the body, modifiing steps, bed heights, etc. If it is a screaming deal, buy it, put them next to each other and start measuring and figuring. If it doesn't work out flip the donor.
