shocks and bags or just bags?????
I have never had a vehicle with air bags, but have convinced myself that's what I want to put on my 65. Are shocks mandatory with bags? Why do some people use them and some people don't? I notice that trailers only have bags (18 wheelers). So what's the deal with shocks and bags or just bags? Thanks in advance for your experience and advice.

Re: shocks and bags or just bags?????
Some are built as both, like Ridetech's Shockwaves. They are both air spring and shock in one. From the research I've done, you need shocks too, otherwise it's like riding on just coil springs. But, I'm new to air suspension so that's just from my little bit of research.

highly recommend shocks. granted you can drive without them but you will notice a smoother ride with shocks

Re: shocks and bags or just bags?????
you can run slam bags without shocks. but for a smoother ride just put shocks on. they are pretty much the easiest part about bagging a truck.

Definitely use some type of shock. It is too simple to skip.

Re: shocks and bags or just bags?????
Air bags are air 'springs'. A springs job is to support the weight of the vehicle. As the vehicle travels down the road, it travels through it's compression/extension range. The shocks job is to dampen the movement as it moves through the range.
No shocks mean nothing controlling the springs inherent bounce.

Re: shocks and bags or just bags?????
I drive without shocks in the front due to the weight difference
The rear will bounce around a lot more without shocks Posted via Mobile Device

Re: shocks and bags or just bags?????
I have always had shocks on mine, can't imagine it without them. I am sure if you run enough pressure it would be fine, althought it may feel like you have no springs . I am local and am willing to offer any advise you need, my truck is currently under construction with the bed off. your welcome to come by and see whats going on. my new accuair valve shows up tomorrow.
If you want advise on what to order I would say 2600lb bags on all four corners, a good valve, plates and cups up front, depending on the your ride height you want, drop spindles. shock relocation kit out back and an adjustable panhard bar. I'm pretty sure I've pm'd my number before feel free to contact me anytime. Ben |

Re: shocks and bags or just bags?????
all of the air ride semitrailers in my company fleet have shocks, it limits the travel, cushion from bouncing down the road. i would go with shocks, it give better control when brake and corner,
