FNG from Florida (Chicago native)
My name is Ed, Moved to Florida a year ago from a lifetime in hell(chicago).
Im divorced and my kids are in college so i now have time to get back to doing things that i love. I've always been a car guy and then one day i saw a beautiful 72 blazer and said to my self... self, build yourself a blazer! one of my industry buddies is a stalker on this site and recommended it to me. so here i am. i am currently looking for a 2 wheel drive blazer 69-74. i have many ideas for the build but im working it out on paper to see how much time i want to invest as well as money and favors. and how anal i want to be. it will be my daily driver when completed... here are the highlights of what will be going in for sure: ls3 motor, 4l80e or 6l80e, heat/ac, power windows and locks, heated and power seats front, rear buckets, hydro boost with 4 wheel disc, bagged no springs. his and her glock holders in a center console. things on the im not sure if i want to invest the energy in but would love to have list: side mirrors (heat, tint, power) 4 wheel anti lock brakes, flex fuel, memory seat (driver) and a few other things i cant remember... and maybe an ejector seat on the passenger side for when my fiance starts complaining at me =) hopefully i can be an asset to this site, and just not an a$$. |

Re: FNG from Florida (Chicago native)
I'm giving myself 6-8 months to pull it off once i start.
im already interviewing paint specialist and interior guys(leather works). also interviewing powder coating companies for the frame and frame parts. an old cuban guy in ft myers is supposed to be the goto guy for the leather... one of my friends is a professional welder and has already been reserved for pizza and margaritas and airfare to assist in the body mods and patching. plus family who visit and stay for free at my place on vacation will have to donate at least 8 hours per 3 days they stay with me... if they can swim in my pool and stay in my guest room, they can help =) motor and trans are factory crate so its already done. my biggest problem will be sourcing the donor seats and seat belts from a 2011-2013 dodge challenger. the other hurdle is getting the body and chassis media blasted. |

Maybe the seats could be the last item and could be had cheaper? I bought a sandblaster the other day from northern tool. Haven't received it yet. Made in the USA

Re: FNG from Florida (Chicago native)
my entire yard is florida sugar sand.... i could just throw that into the sand blaster =)
nope seats are require at fabrication time. the seat belts have to be fabricated into the pillar/body of the blazer for the shoulder portion. |

You could probably just filter it and use it. I have heard of people using play sand. Pretty awesome if it works. Sears sells a siphon blaster for $50 that has good reviews.
