71 C-10 on "Trucks" TV show
I saw this show on Sunday morning on Spike channel.
They were lowering the truck with springs and put new arms on the rear suspension at the same time. Was a good tutorial for a novice like me...I think you can watch the show on the web. Posted via Mobile Device

Go to Powerblocktv.com Follow the trucks link, you should see a couple of the videos there on this truck. Thats how i found it anyway.

just so you know, that was probably a 6 hour day for 2 guys with all the right tools with all the right parts.
this would be a weekend project for the average guy with average skill. and then the trip to the alignment shop.

What you don't see is all that work they do DURING commercials. That's why they're able to knock it out in 30 minutes!

I was curious to hear from some guys who have done a fair amount of work like that...other than the obvious editing to make it fit in a 30 minute spot, was it realistic/useful info for a novice like me?

I have done the suspension on my truck 3 or 4 times (cause I couldn't make my mind up, lol). This show is ok for getting a general idea of where and what all the different parts are, but it's kind of a best case scenario. They did mention some potential trouble spots, and I'm especially glad that they mentioned the coil spring pressure (dangerous). They just make it look too easy, because they show only the beginning and end of each task. They also have unlimited tools and resources. I think what they are doing is definitely doable for a novice, just use the info on this site as the grain of salt to take the show with. There are thousands on here who have done similar things, and if it can happen, it's probably been discussed on here.
All in all, a fun show to watch, and not a bad source of general info, but it might be a little tough on a guy to watch the show and then run out to his garage thinking it will be as easy there.

i have close to 50 k in tools in my garage at home... and i would probably have to call the snap on or mac guy for something i dont have to compete this project.
if i had a lift at home i could get it done in 8 hours or less with the help of a buddy who is mostly holding his beer... 2 days by myself no beer buddy no lift with a floor jack and jack stands. i personally love the show because i get to see what is availble... its a way for the manufacturers to show me what they got... and the 5yr old in me still loves watching people work(mechanics, construction) after further review i think a couple of novice guys with minimal skill and minimal tools... 2 weekends or a 3 day weekend dont even try it without an air compressor and impact gun. and for gods sake(the god of your choice) be carefull with the springs... they can take a body part off if they get sprung.
