Question Cpp Tilt column for 63 GMC

Has anyone installed a CPP tilt column, p/n TC-6772-SB, into a 60-66 truck?
If so, since this is sold as being for the 67-72, were there any problems installing this column in the earlier truck.
Please advise...... I'm desperate for a tilt and unwilling to pay $500 or more for one. Also, I don't weld so I'm looking for a bolt in with minimum fabrication, I'm not a "Bomp", although I wish I was!

FYI, not getting into bashing any companies but anyone looking at a tilt column really needs to read this warning from LVVTA. They are like SEMA but much strictor in testing, based in New Zealand. VERY eye opening.

How about this one on eRape for $125.00? I got lucky and found my van tilt for $119.00 on eRape but that was a few years ago

Wow, that's pretty interesting. CPP stuff in general is starting to scare me. I'm pretty sure Summit racing is selling one of the Chinese tilt columns under their own brand.

so i guess what that is saying is unless you are prepared to spend a $1000-1500 on a column from one of those 4 manufactures then you might as well just get one out of junkyard if you can find one?

Re: Cpp Tilt column for 63 GMC

You can order a quality US made column for well under $500...It's a lot of money but crashing sucks and the cheap ones look pretty junky anyway.

Re: Cpp Tilt column for 63 GMC

I have a cheap one and it's not bad, not quite the quality of ididt or flaming river. (have had both) all steel not chrome or power-coated. there's not anything in the column thats going to break that i can see. I built everything from the column to steering box, which would be the week link if not done correctly. I guess i will see.

Do you know anyone in your area that has a nice 61 hood for sale?
I have family in Sonora and I have a place in Nevada City not too far from Placerville.
