68 LS1 stepper

OK, I'm starting to think it's time to let the truck go. I have a wife and two sons(10 & 7), and with all the current seat belt laws and such, it's just not feasible to do much as a family with a truck. If I decide to sell, I'll get something more "family oriented". Most likely a mid sized muscle car, but I may entertain getting a 2wd Blazer.

I want some honest opinions on what you guys think my truck may bring.

Here's some basics

68 Stepside
-All sheetmetal is original except hood, headgate and right front fender. Tailgate is NOS.
-Paint and bodywork was all completed in August 2006 and garage kept since.
-69 CST full foam bench seat with custom foam and high quality Rave brand vinyl material for the seat cover, kick panel speakers, door pull/armrests, and dash pad. Lecarra steering wheel. Ididit auto trans column. Custom Autosound radio with 6.5" kickpanel speakers and Pioneer 6x9 speakers custom mounted in cab corners, and a custom panel behind seat where fuel tank used to be.
-Docs Kustoms aluminum fuel tank.
-Rebel Wire wiring harness
-lowered 4.5/5.75 using all ECE parts and a custom made .75" drop block.
-Carbed and cammed LS1/700r4/4.11 gears with Eaton LSD.
-Custom 2.5" exhaust with ceramic coated stainless headers, x-pipe and Magnaflow mufflers.
-17" American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels and Hankook Ventus ST tires(still plenty of tread left)

The truck is very reliable. I just competed the 2013 Power Tour(over 2600 mile trip in total) with the only issue being some backed out header bolts.

Re: 68 LS1 stepper

Man,I hate to see a guy getting no response for a WIW. I'm a bit shy on giving a price myself, but will take a shot and figure others will follow once I brake the ice. I have two prices in mind. First is my best estimate and the second is what I'd hope a good ole buddy ole pal (I never met) will sell it to me for . Nah,just kidding. Me and most others here know just what a quality truck this is and I'd/we'd pay better knowing that. To the rest of the world,I think they could see that as well. You know as well as I do prices for the same truck can be all over the place. There's realistic and there's how much some pay that's more. I'd think never less than $18,000 on the worst day and more like $25,000 (or more). We see $25,000 trucks sell for more and for less. Just saying,by what I've seen,it's a $25,000 truck whether you can get that or not. Now,for my price...

Re: 68 LS1 stepper

Thanks, Tim. I kinda figured everybody was afraid to hurt my feelings. I have a firm bottom dollar price and it's higher than your high price, but I'm not in a position that I HAVE to sell it, so I can be patient to find the right buyer if he's out there. If it doesn't bring that, then I still have my truck and can still enjoy it. It will just be more difficult to enjoy it with my whole family.

I have somewhere between $38-40K in it as of now, but I also understand that the paint and interior is 7 years old. and I've put some miles and wear on it in those 7 years. I was just curious to se what others thought a "realistic" value might be.

Re: 68 LS1 stepper

i also see a $20-$25k truck from the pics. that said i would not think listing for low 30's would be out of line. it looks extremely clean and very well built. that engine bay shot is killer!

Re: 68 LS1 stepper

Matt, I am thinking the same thing you are, I need a 4 seater. I want my family to go to shows with me, and my target is a 71/72 Blazer. I believe I may to list my truck for sale after Cruising the Coast in Biloxi next month. My truck is a beater when compared to yours and I would need in the $20-$25K range for mine, so I can see yours being worth more. the reality is that they are worth what someone is willing to pay for them. I would put it out there at your target price and see who responds. However, there are only a handful of folks on this board who are willing to spend that kind of money, so I would also put it on other mediums, ebay, CL, AutotraderClassics, etc as that is how mason and n2billet were able to get the word that their trucks were for sale out in the mainstream. Go For It!

Re: 68 LS1 stepper

In reality a lot of the people that want to buy have NO clue as to what it takes to build a truck of this caliber! I've been asked a few times if my LS S10 could be bought and I get low ballers trying to get for half of what I have in it. Hoping for the best for you I hate to see you sell it as IT IS SO SHARP but I understand the problem.

Re: 68 LS1 stepper

yes there are many who have no clue. but truth is most guys who have $40k to spend will build their own exactly to their liking. most guys on this forum would agree this truck is AMAZING. but what they would be willing to pay for it will vary widely. I hope you find a buyer willing to pay what you're asking!

Re: 68 LS1 stepper

I see this truck as being right in line for what most would want to build if they built their own. It has a broad appeal,I think. I said it's a solid $25k truck and meant no less. Considering the LS value more heavily I'd could see it sell in the 30k range. It's done, done nice,in a way more couldn't argue with, and started as a nice truck...not a patched up revival truck. Being a Power Tour veteran is a big selling point,if you sold sometime soon.

Re: 68 LS1 stepper

I too am always hesitant to price another man's truck, but I certainly agree that your truck is built with high quality and in a manner that will appeal to a large pool of buyers. Good luck with the sale!
