Burb in sight

Hi Guys ,
I just met someone , looking at my truck.
After a little of the usual blablabla , he told me he has a Burb , probably a little older than mine , with the three benches & barn doors.
he is ready to sell it for the parts , as it seems the truck is in bad shape.
It has one of these infamous 5.7 Diesel Oldsmobile engine in it ...
I will see it this evening or tomorrow , I'm ready to give him 375 US$ , not more...
I have no idea though if it is a C or a K.
If the rig is in a not so bad shape , I think I could throw the Impala away & hold & restore it

Wish me luck
The Baron

I just called the guy back , I told him I would take the whole , he was surprised & told me again it was "reallyreally" a wreck.
No problemo , as I need :
- a new winshield ( hope this one is not cracked...)
- a 12 bolts posi RR axle ( hope it has one... )
- a new interior ( hope it is a brand new one )
+ other spares to stock ( tranny , bumpers , fenders , etc...)
So I will give him a few bucks to get it :
" you know , your Burb sucks , I will please you when I will tow it away , you'll get more room , blabla..."

BTW , boataddict , I don't like power windows on a 25 years old rig , the less electrical devices , the better

Already told my fiancee that I could sell the Impala , to give her a Burb , she is not happy as she knows now her car very well ( after a year of practice... )

I gotta have the power!! What if your going through town and there are some HOT girls walking down the side walk, if you have manual windows you have to lean all the way over and roll the window down so you can get a better look. Meanwhile you could get in a reck and that would be embarssing. If you have power, you just hit a button and down goes the window!!

Then the girls laugh at you as your window gets stuck half way down and won't come back up, such is the case of mine!

Hey it's nice to see someone from Europe on the board. I'm in Hilversum (near Amsterdam), The Netherlands. It really looks like a bargain this burb. 375 US-dollar that's about 400 EURO. That's a bargain no matter the state of the truck. If you are parting out the truck let me know, maybe I can use some parts for my truck.

Dang if you need them that bad I will part with my extra set, it comes complete for two doors- with harness, switches, actuators and regulators with motors.

I bought it to replace one side, but the door was bad so I am picking up another door equiped with power.

Hi Guys ,
Just call me the "Burb Baron"
I traded it for a 1979 Yamaha XS 650 I still had & a 1976 "Piaggio Vespa Primavera" I should search in my garbage...

It's a 1986 C10 6.2 Diesel / 4 speed auto tranny / 10 bolts RR axle , Rally rims with tires good for another 10.000 miles , three benches ( what I looked for ) , tailgate.

Boataddict , everything has power , windows , locks , etc

It has A/C ( in a bad shape )
the two back benches are in mint condition , as the carpets

The body has some superficial rust , no dents at all , except the hood

the engine is toasted , a connecting rod bearing noise.
As I don't like Diesels , I think I will throw that bloody engine out & replace it by a gas V8 engine ( I can get some for about 600 US$ ).

That Burb has been imported from California ( almost rust free ) back in 1995 , it seems the importer has screwed with the VIN identification , as it has a title with a 1967 date

I didn't see the papers , I'll see them when I'll get it , in the middle of august ...

Anyway :
If this Burb has a 1967 title , I don't have to woory a

Oups , pushed the wrong button

As I said :
It this Burb has a 1967 title , I don't have to worry about taxes , it would cost me a 25 US$ a year to get it on the road , because it older than 25 years

If it has a 1986 title , I'm screwed as I should pay then 2000 $ a year.

I was looking to swap the bodies and put the Burb one on my C10 pick-up , but the Burb's wheelbase is 2 inches shorter

Last solution , wait a year , swindle with the VIN numbers on the frame , & I will have a 1979 Burb , 25 years old

The Baron
