Torque Converter for Hot Cam and 4L60E
I am thinking about swapping my converter for a looser one to better match the rpm range of the cam. I am looking at Boss Hog and Hughes converters in the 2500 rpm range available through Summit Racing. Does anyone have experience with either of these companies?

Re: Torque Converter for Hot Cam and 4L60E
Boss Hogg converters are junk. I've seen mild big blocks kill them.
No experience with Hughes converters so can't comment on them. For your combo I'd get one of Circle D's 278mm 3200 converters. https://www.circledspecialties.com/p...converter.aspx Reasonable price and I've seen them take a beating. One of my friends has one in his LS1 powered 78 Olds Delta 88 - h/c/i + 100 hit. It has taken way more abuse than a $400 converter should have.

I also have a CircleD and really like it. Mines a 258mm billet single disk on a 4L85e.

Re: Torque Converter for Hot Cam and 4L60E
I have been told of the circle d converters before, I think I'll give them a call and get their recommendation when I get closer to being ready to making the swap. Thanks for the input.

Re: Torque Converter for Hot Cam and 4L60E
I have been running RevMax converters for the past 4 years on my personal stuff as well as customer projects. Top notch customer service, every converter is built to spec, and quick turnaround.
Currently running a 9.5" billet converter for my 4L80e.

Re: Torque Converter for Hot Cam and 4L60E
I ran a Yank 2800 behind my Hot cammed 99 Camaro for 80K miles with no issues, ran a 12.7 @ 107, held up well at the track etc.

Re: Torque Converter for Hot Cam and 4L60E
I just installed a Circle D 2600-2800 278mm unit, installed it this past weekend. Still need to fill the trans with fluid and give it a go, but I am optimistic.

Re: Torque Converter for Hot Cam and 4L60E
Circle D makes good stuff. I prefer my converters alittle on the 'tight' side so they seem almost stock when driving regularly, but flash to the intended stall speed when I put the hammer down. Also, when built right, the higher dollar converters (billet, etc) don't slip as much % on the high end. This is especially important if you don't have a billet front cover and/or the converter won't lockup during WOT.

Re: Torque Converter for Hot Cam and 4L60E
Chris at Circle D says this one will drive like a factory unit until you stab it. I am excited to see how it performs.

Re: Torque Converter for Hot Cam and 4L60E
Took it for a ride this morning and I am happy so far. I will have to see the tuner to make some changes, but the converter seemed to help with the idle and pushing problems I was having. And as an added bonus it gets in the power band right away!
