New to boards - My 1969 CST

What do you guys think of my 1969 CST with an L98 motor, and a 700r4? Disc brakes, etc.

Runs pretty strong. There's a toll road I hit everyday where the speed limit is 85 and I regularly hit 100mph, and it just purrs along at about 3000 rpm.

What do you guys think of the ride height and wheels? They're 20's, and I think they're too big, but I like the way they fill the wheel well. I really want to powder coat them black and see what that looks like.

An altitude adjustment would work wonders. Great score on the truck!

I've been doing a little bit of looking around, trying to figure out how to lower it cheaply.

Is it possible to lower it about 2" just by cutting the springs. I can see how the back would work that way but what about the front?

DONT cut the springs, A set of front lowering coils will only set you back 100.. bucks and it will still ride well. the same with the backs and if you only go so far you wont have to chanything else. When you go below a certain point youll have to start changing trackbars and shock mounts but if you stay reasonable you only need springs and they are relatively cheap!. just my opinion

1 round cut off the bottom springs equals 2". Good luck, oyes nice truck also..

That is a nice looking truck. I agree, it wouldnt hurt to go a little lower in the front.

Im not a huge fan of those particular wheels, but I have seen some sweet trucks with 20's on them all over this site. This is just my opinion though

nice truck. Id take it down a hair in the front and back. imho those wheels look funny. Not sure if they are to big or lowering it an inch or so would help. I have 20s as well but I like mine lol...

Nice! I love the LT-1 engine. By far the pinnacle of the small blocks. I have one in an 87 IROC and one sitting on a trailer waiting to go in my boat.

I ABSOLUTELY agree on the drop. And, I'd never powder coat those wheels black.

But, then again, that's the beauty of these trucks...You get to do what you want.

Proviso: I'd do the drop "correctly". If you don't want to spring for spindles, spring for springs.

BTW, it looks like the fronts are bigger than the rears...wheels/tires, that is.

They're the same size wheels. For some reason, I HATE the way it looks in pictures. It looks jacked up, and the wheels look too big. But when you see it in person, the wheels don't look to big, and it doesn't look jacked up. It looks alot better.

Eventually I plan on putting black steelies on and lowering it, but I like it fine now, meaning no money to do anything
