difference between 3 speed trannys

Hey y'all on the board my question..... ok I have a 63 c10 and my original tranmy went out because of the syncros in the tranny. Now my question will 55-57 car 3 speed trannys fit in 60-66 chevy trucks? Like clutch spline?

The bolt up to the bell housing & clutch is the same but you may run into problems with shift linkage & drive shaft length.

Physically the same but different ratios in first and second.

Re: difference between 3 speed trannys

hook onto the front of the main case and measure until the end of the tail shaft case. you should be aable to find a replacement 3 speed fairly easy though. if you were closer, id give you one.

as stated above, i think linkage will be your biggest issue to retain the column mount

Re: difference between 3 speed trannys

if for some reason the linkage to trans is different just use your old side plate off the old one.
