New member from MS Gulf Coast
Hey, my name is Jay.
I recently purchased a 1970 C10 SWB fleetside. Been looking for one for a few years now and finally decided to pull the plug on this one. Needs some work without a doubt (they all do), but definitely a great starter. |

Re: New member from MS Gulf Coast
Lowering shouldn't be a problem.
You might have to change wheels or tires. I have a twin to your truck,...

Damn! You really do! I like your truck. Is it orange too? How low did you go and did you have to cut the frame?

Re: New member from MS Gulf Coast
It's faded red/orange.
5.5/7.5 drop. Front: 2.5" drop spindles 3" drop springs Drop shocks Rear: 6" drop spring 1.5" lowering block bolt in c-notch rear shock relocators adjustable track bar (panhard baar) drop shocks. Don't be scared to add a bolt in c-notch.

Re: New member from MS Gulf Coast
4.5/6 drop
But I'm not sure you could do it with those tires you have on there now.

Re: New member from MS Gulf Coast
Oh I know it. That was fixing to be my next question. How big of a tire could I go if I were to do a 3/5 drop? I really wanting to have a decent ride with a decent look. Not really looking to slam it.

I just noticed you have a red bench seat also. Was that factory in yours or did you put it in?

1970 red was really a bright red. Totally different color. I would lower your truck first and then see what will fit.

Re: New member from MS Gulf Coast
I got mine from a guy who had a 68, it's also red.
I'm guessing I'm gonna need another set of rims that are smaller to get an idea |

Welcome to the board; great looking truck!
You would not be disappointed in th 4.5/6" drop. I'm running this on my '69 (without a notch) and the ride is perfect.

Re: New member from MS Gulf Coast
I've ran 15" ralleys and 20" Billet Specialties Vintecs. My father-in-law has a bad back and after lowering it he thought the ride would be to stiff to ride along. He was amazed at how nice it was.

Re: New member from MS Gulf Coast
Man I like that. What size tire is that on those 20's? Ever bottom out with that 6" in the back?

Re: New member from MS Gulf Coast
255/40 up front and 295/40
I've only bottomed out once and I was pushing it and came off of a bridge. That was with the 15'' wheels. Full specs and drop install in my build thread "Project Blank Slate." Click on the link in my signature below.

Re: New member from MS Gulf Coast
Are you sure they aren't 255/40's up front?

Re: New member from MS Gulf Coast
The tires I have on mine now are 275-55-20. So I'm not too far off from what you are running. I checked out a little of your build thread, did you axle over to get the 6"?
