49 door glass
Trying to decide if I should go with the 1 piece door glass, or rebuild the vent windows and put new orginal glass in. Looks like I can do the 1 piece a lot cheaper

Re: 49 door glass
'49 had 1 piece door glass. Vent/wing windows started in '51. Good luck which ever you decide

Re: 49 door glass
Does it have swing handle or push button? The striker is different as is the cab where the striker bolts. They will "work" when swapped but not as good as with the proper striker to latch combination. They even made an "adapter" in 51 because some doors were swing handle and some were push button.
The one on the left is a swing handle, the middle one is the "adapter" and the one on the right is the push button handle striker. Brian

Re: 49 door glass
I don't know what you need to do it, I have looked at them but never did one. I do know I dig the early look with the metal frame around the glass.

Re: 49 door glass
It can be done. You will need the proper run for the channel in front plus the frame for the glass and I am thinking that the regulator is different.
From going back and looking at this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=607302 and the side photo of your truck I'd say that it is actually a 52 or 53 truck rather than a 49 or they used a 52/53 cab and a 49 title. The door handles, vent and lack of a side vent on the drivers side of the cowl are the distinguishing clues.

Re: 49 door glass
The vent on the side of the cowl have been welded shut by previous owner. Did the 52/53 have a split windshield?. I just want to make sure I order the correct parts for my build. Thank you guys again for the help

Re: 49 door glass
Yes I want to keep them but I could buy the 1 piece window for what it will cost me to fix the vent window. that was my only thought and with not putting ac in the truck they would be nice to get air in the cab

Quote:
LMC and most of the other vendors sell the frames for the one piece windows or you can buy them used. Someone sells the channel that goes in front that the channel that goes around the glass fits in. You have to cut out the metal piece that is below the vent window but that is easy.
