New crossmember or short tube headers?
I have a 77 lwb that i need to replace the exhaust.It has long tube headers now . Who sells a CHEAP! Transmission crossmember to clear a 3" exhaust? Went to the junk yard to find a double hump crossmember. No luck. Pics of your setup PLEASE!!

I just worked around with what I had, on my '77 l2swb. Duals, but still what you'd need to do to bring the passenger side over to the driver's side for single exhaust (if you went that way).

Nice setup. Is that a kit? U have the same setup as me. I just hate how the drivers side has to be.

Not a kit - I put it together with a wack of mandrel U-s and some straight tube.
I debated long and hard about modifying the driver's side of the crossmember when a student of mine (I teach high school Mechanics) stripped a trans mount hole in the case and the crossmember had to come off to Heli-Coil it. I decided it would be easier to just suck it up and run the pipe over. I couldn't figure out any "quick and dirty" ways of putting a structurally-sound hump in the driver's side.

I had the same problem so I made a new one which gave me plenty of clearance.

That looks very reasonable. Was the e-brake cable an issue at all? Does it rattle against the exhaust?

3/4-1 ton cross member. Small notch for the trans mount. Tucks 3"

Support the trans tail shaft when you go to pull it out.
