700r4

Ok I know this topic has been hammered, but I just want to clear up what I have researched. I have a 700R4 out of a 92 pickup. It's going in my 64 with a 350. All i need to do is run a 12v source from Ignition to breake switch. From switch to Pin A of the Connector on transmition. Run a loop/ jumper from the other two pins on commector. And this would give me lock up in 4th and only 4th. Please some one Help.

Re: 700r4

Google "wiring 700r4 lockup." There are so many great sites with diagrams it would be easier using those than recreating the instructions.

...#2 with siggy's suggestion. I've seen several different internal wiring systems used on the various 700R's; so I would not trust a trans to have any certain wiring arrangement without pulling the pan myself.

Since we want new fluid/filter/gasket anyway, it's too simple to wire the lockup solenoid appropriately while in there--even changing the l-u solenoid from an always-gounded-one-wire control type, to an ungrounded-2-wire-control type [or vice versa] to allow for our choice of [and, minimal] wiring to provide lockup control.

You'll feel much better knowing for sure that your trans is wired properly before you install it. Plus, you'll have so much more needed, assured knowledge that you'll never regret the time spent following siggy's lead. It can provide so much help in diagnosing needed adjustments later and giving ideas for added functions [that you may just think up] for personal enjoyment that others may not have even considered: would u like to make it lock up in 3rd sometimes? would u like to disable it from l-u altogether at times? would u like to delay its l-u until it gains some additional speed AFTER it has gone into 4th? All this, and more, done externally IF you know how you have it wired inside!

Good luck.
