69 Seat bracket.. little help

In the picture below is the drivers side seat bracket on top and passenger side on bottom.

Question: Where the rod connects is a little spring and metal piece in which the spring sets behind. I don't have one on the outside of the Passenger bracket but it seems like it should have one. Can anyone verify this and also if I do need one, is there anywhere that sells them.

Thanks in advance

Yes, you need one on that end too. As far as I know they are not reproduced. If you take your existing spring to your local hardware store you should be able to find one. The tab you will have to find from an old seat at a salvage yard or maybe someone on the parts for sale board would have one. Do you have the rod that connects the two sides together? You can't post a wanted to buy but if you see someone on the parts board selling seat parts you can buy them.

Re: 69 Seat bracket.. little help

I just went through this over the weekend on my 67. I live in a remote location and the junk yards are few and far between. I ended up using a 1/4" rope clip (u-shaped device that holds a looped back rope or cable) and attaching the rod to the sliding grooved locking tab. It's works, don't know for how long!
