Smaller a/c compressor???

Putting a 6.0 in my 59 with a Porterbuilt dropmember. My a/c compressor is hitting the rack and crossmember. Rumor has it there is a smaller a/c compressor that will bolt up and works the same way. Any suggestions???

Re: Smaller a/c compressor???

I haven't bought any a/c components yet. Was thinking vintage air but not dead set on it. Really would like to be able to leave the compressor low if possible.

All of the ones I have personally seen are read about you will have to do some metal bending are cutting to use the lower mounted AC.They will go in and work but if you ever have to service it you will have a heck of a time.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Smaller a/c compressor???

There are several companies that sell a high mount AC compressor bracket for the LSx swaps, Kwik performance comes to mind right now. They usually use the Sanden compressors and I think I saw one that used the old GM A4 compressor too....

Holley makes a great bracket setup, if you are looking for a factory look. Here's a pictures of my son's setup (Porterbuilt extreme drop).
