1966 Disc Brake Line Question

Hey everyone, I've been looking on this forum for a while now, but this is my first post. I'm restoring a 1966 C10 and I'm beginning to work on the brake lines. The truck is a lwb 2wd that is being converted to a manual disc/disc setup. I ordered all the parts from POL, including the prebent brake lines for manual discs. My problem is that I don't know which line goes where. There is no diagram and POL referred me to their manufacturer when I called. The manufacturer also didn't have a diagram or any idea what I should do. Has anyone installed this kit that would be willing to help me out? Pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, and my proportioning valve is bolted to my master cylinder. And it is a dual master cylinder. I can get the part number if that would help

Well, it should be the same but I mounted mine down on the frame. I have a few good pictures if you think it will help.

This is a 66 GMC I did a disc drum swap on. I have a feeling yours will be quite a bit different but fitting size should help you figure it out once its all mounted.

If I understand correctly, two lines will be coming off the proportioning valve. One line will go to a T fitting that has lines that go to the front brakes and the other line goes to a T fitting for the rear brakes. I just can't make sense of which line in the kit goes where. I could upload pictures of the lines if that would help.

The proportioning valve will have 2 lines coming in from the master cylinder and 3 lines coming out. There will be 2 lines for the front brakes, one left and one right. Then the port on the opposite end is for the line that goes back to the differential where it splits at the tee at the end of the hose. You can refer to the pics that 60-66 posted above.

OK, like Captainfab said, in the rear of that valve will be a larger line, that's to the rear brakes, the two coming out the front go to right and left front disc brakes. Hope this helps.

I bought the pre bent lines fro pol also. no instructions no help. if you take the lines and mount them temporally to you mas cyl a prop valve they are kind of self explanatory?one line has a small fitting it goes to the front of the master. the other lines --one has a larger fitting that goes to the t fitting by the passenger wheel. I hope this helps.

Just noticed your message Gimmy. I'll take a look at my lines tomorrow.

I just checked the manufacturer's receipt and noticed that it says the lines I received are for a power disc system, even though the receipt from POL says they are for manual brakes. This would make sense of why the lines won't fit around the firewall correctly. I will call POL on Monday, and hopefully they will help me out with this problem even though its been over 30 days since I ordered the parts.

I bought a brake line kit from POL and thought it was the wrong one also.. after a while of just staring at em and staring at em they finally started to make sense. This is what I came up with and they actually reach everywhere perfectly. I still have to clamp them to each other but this is a mock up pic's before actually installing them..

MadRatt, that's how I had my lines mocked up also. However, I am running manual discs, so the lines bump into the firewall because the booster isn't there to space them farther from the firewall. Also, I believe that with manual discs, the lines need to be 3/16" instead of 1/4". The POL receipt says that I ordered the correct lines, but the manufacturer's receipt that came in the box with the lines says that they are for power discs.

yea mine are real close to the fire wall but as you mentioned I have the booster. So I can imagine that they would hit pretty bad without it. any reason your not going to run a booster? fairly inexpensive especially since you already got all the expensive stuff anyways.

I ordered mine from inline tube and so far this was the biggest head scratcher I've run into yet. They also offered no diagram for fitment. It was an awfully good feeling once I got it figured out though...

MadRatt, I won't make enough vacuum at idle to run power brakes. Not sure on which cam I'll go with, but it definitely will be too big to support a booster. But this won't be a daily driver, so I'm not too worried about the firmer brake pedal.

I have a 64 C10.
It has non power drum/drum.
I am going to use a captnfab bracket with a dual master and power booster,

It looks like the original line is 1/4 from the master to the first "t" and 1/4 to the 2nd "t". There is a 3/16 line from that "t" to the back of the truck

Question? Can I keep that line that goes to the back of the truck or do I need to upgrade it to 1/4"
