Nada prices for squares.

How accurate are these prices compared to what the insurance goes by. I know that it depends on what the condition, miles etc. are. However on the high retail side of my 85 short bed C10 it lists $9502. For both my 84 & 85 K30's they list $8502 and $7720. Now neither one of these trucks are mint but was just wondering if they were then how the Nada prices would compare to the Insurance if it was totaled.

Re: Nada prices for squares.

I'm sure the insurance companies think these are $500 trucks.

I would think the same but when I looked them up I was suprised that they listed them that high. I had looked up my 91 Z71 short bed a while back and they listed it at almost 10 grand on the high retail.

Re: Nada prices for squares.

I got hit in my 90 silverado. Worth about $1500. it was clean but not mint.
I replace the motor 3 years ago and told the insurance company that. So they gave me $5200 and i bought it back for $700 with a salvage title. Just sold the truck yesterday for $1500 . I was surprised to get that both times lol.

I would never tolerate a salvage title from my insurance company.

Really? My daughter was rear ended a while back and they totaled the car but it still has a clear title to it.

I don't think so because my 76 C20 looks like a $500 truck that should be in the junk yard. Yet a kid driving a jeep ran into my passenger door while my truck was parked and his insurance paid me $1200 for the damage.

I bought the car back for $400 and got a $3000 check on top of that. Kept the car and it still runs and drives good. Just a crinkled quarter panel. Getting ready to sell it since it just sets anymore.

They tried to low ball me with the first offer but it wasn't happening. I wonder how many people they cheat out of money by doing that.

Re: Nada prices for squares.

I got hit in my old 93 Accord with high miles (about 270K IIRC). They offered me $1500 for it, and I sent them EVERY maint. receipt since it was new, and told them to find me a Honda Accord that had had EVERY scheduled maint performed since new for $1500.

They bumped their offer to $2500, I bought the car back from them for $500, got it fixed for about $1K, put new tires on it, and drove it for another 100K.

Re: Nada prices for squares.

a little over a year ago i was driving down the road in my 1977 k30 crew cab when a moron backed out of his drive way in front of me, this was in a 45 zone mind you. i swerved to miss him but my right front wheel got him in the right rear quarter and almost tore my front axle out from under it. my truck was in pretty good shape before that-decent paint and interior, but no carpet. when the ins. co came to look at it i handed the adjuster a copy of the nada price guide and he valued it near the top of the mark. when everything was settled, i walked away with a check for $10k worth of damage and had a truck with a clean title. for the record, that was from his ins co. i have no special insurance on it.

Re: Nada prices for squares.

my boss at work bought a barn find '79 k20 silverado. original one owner used it as a fuel transporter truck to the tractors out in the fields. everything original, 350, 4speed manual, trim package, all black, tach in the dash. two months later a lady ran a red light and tboned the truck. before this happen there wasnt a dent or rock chip on the truck. didnt really harm the truck, but he got it for 2k, insurance company gave him 4k and he bought it back for 700.

My 78 CC dually is insured for 10k. I put full coverage, comp, collision, etc. and it only costs me 225 bucks a year.
