Given time I am sure you will find the right truck. They are still out there. To give you hope in your search, here is one that impressed me:

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/4333061262.html

Unfortunately it is a Blazer and not a Jimmy or you would have been all set.

Lots of members here like to browse craigslist and ebay and other ads looking for nice old trucks and link them here. Something will turn up sooner or later.

I was after a 72 jimmy ideally and ended up with a 75 blazer. 72 Jimmy IS the best looking of them all i feel though - those double headlights. Awesome!

To bad you don't live out here in So Cali.. There were probably 3-5 full converts and a few 76 and up.. There was a 83 2wd for 4400 today..

This was at the Big 3 Swapmeet here in San Diego.

Re: I am looking for 1973-79 GMC Jimmy

That's not a GM truck console. It's from a '80s Bronco.

The other one was from LMC.
https://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=125
And this will help explain the center consoles over the yrs. There was only 3 styles and first two are almost identical.
You are right about 4spd in Blazer and Jimmy with higher option pkgs. It was offered but most took the auto.

Re: I am looking for 1973-79 GMC Jimmy

Or how about a '74 Jimmy with a bunch of Vic Hickey stuff on?

Had to grab the pix of it...
Complete front brush guard

Roof rack

Rear tire carrier
