Suburban 2nd Row Shoulder belt help

I need to be three point seat belts in the backseat (2nd row) of my 1973 burb.

A trip to my local junkyards did not provide what I need, so I'm considering buying new aftermarket 3point belts.

Who has done this and what did you buy? Did you like it?

Looking at LMC truck (though they sell the same for front and rear, which is suspicious to me).

Retro belt

Any help? Need to get my kid buckled in!

thanks,
Nick

Re: Suburban 2nd Row Shoulder belt help

Did you see my recent thread about this? We didn't get very far with it. I was asking for anyone with dealer installed shoulder belts to show what they have. The anchor points are there, but the shoulder belts weren't offered as a factory option.

I'm thinking of replacing the belts that are there now, which are like the ones in your picture, with a lengthened belt like a modern design. I'd have the attachment piece float on the strap, as they do in the later design, with both ends anchored at the floor. You could use the single retractor. There's not room for a double retractor like the front belt system. You could pick up that piece at the yard for nothing. You would need a set of attaching bolts if you use the anchor points on the B pillar.

I'm going to order this tomorrow for the rear seats:

It's a non-retracting 3 point. They have all kinds of hardware options so mounting should be easy.

Re: Suburban 2nd Row Shoulder belt help

Couldn't you do the same thing with the existing belt by having it re-webbed with a longer strap and scrounging the hardware from a yard? It seems that would allow you to have a single retractor setup. I like the look of this enough to think I might try what I'm suggesting.

Thanks for posting that picture.

Re: Suburban 2nd Row Shoulder belt help

I'm going to leave the seatbelt building to certified folks.

I ordered "seatbelt planet" belts. I will post some pics of how that goes.
