You know your motor is apart too often when...

I am sure there are a lot of us that can add to this. I will start.

You know your motor is apart too often when:

It takes you 1 hour and 30 minutes to get it out by yourself
You can collect the mix of tools you needs before you even start. (In my case both metric and standard)
It takes you less than 1 hour to assemble from Shortblock to complete turn key ready minus dropping it in and wiring it. But that's only another hour.

You can pull the tranny from the truck laying on your back in less than 30 mins and then pull the motor with your eyes closed...almost.

Re: You know your motor is apart too often when...

You know exactly what does and doesn't have to come off in order to get the engine on the stand the fastest. You just remove the components to the get the belts off instead of bothering with the belt adjustments.

With air tools I got to the point I could yank the engine in 35 minutes from my 84. Everything was about as simple as it could get for hookup. One -8 fuel line. Pull the carb and attach the lift plate. Then drop the alternator and ps pump. Headers were the biggest pain. Never did find a quick way to get them out especially the bolts that had to be wrenched out.

Re: You know your motor is apart too often when...

When you make brackets with D-rings on them, and bolt them to your heads so you don't have to pull your intake or carb and can just hook a chain to them!

when you say TO HELL WITH IT,, I'm done!

The truck is going back to just a street truck,, and getting the Nova all re-certed. At least that POS stays together a bit longer.

Re: You know your motor is apart too often when...

Yeah,, thanks for the concern guys . I'm just tired.

Haven't touched the truck since it broke the pushrod in March. I'm sure it's got a hurt lifter. Has to come apart to find out.

Think I've just kinda lost interest in even fixing it. "EVENTUALLY" Going to put the heads on a nice little pump gas 383 I built for it originally, with a hydraulic roller, and headache free single carb,,,, and see what happens. I'm thinking its apt to find a new home.

You know your motor is apart too often when you look at a Fiat and think..."man, it would be nice to own a reliable car..."
