Need help!
Hey guys, bought my first project around Thanksgiving, a 67 short stepside. It's missing a lot of parts and the hardest thing is recognizing what parts are missing and figuring out where to get them.
Right now I'm replacing the brake light switch and have run into a problem. My brake pedal comes up way too high, and the portion that is supposed to contact the switch rides right against the mount for the switch when the pedal is all the way up. The switch that was in it was just hanging down by the wires, and it looks like the pedal stripped the threads and pushed it out of the mount. So my question is what is supposed to limit the pedals upper travel? I do not have an emergency brake assembly under the dash, the truck was missing it when I bought it. Does the e-brake have a stop for the brake pedal made onto it? I'm trying to get it drivable this weekend since we have a break in the weather, so any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Need help!
Here is what mine looks like without the switch in it. The switch is going to be what stops the upward travel of the pedal, and I'm afraid it's going to break this switch also.
Don't know why, but pic rotated 90 degrees when uploaded. |

Re: Need help!
The switch shouldn't stop the pedal. There is a pedal stop that should do that job. The switch should just get depressed far enough for it to actuate the lights.

There is a plate that bolts under the steering column that has rubber bumpers for the pedal stops. Maybe yours is missing.... Here is a picture. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1211527872 It's the black plate below the red arrow LockDoc

Re: Need help!
Your brake light switch should also have a sheetmetal nut. Is it present?
