Re: Mounts ECE vs Dirty Dingo
Can't say about A/C, but my cutthroat4x4 ebay adapter plates work fine and have plenty of room for electric fans. That is with stock I6 towers and Prothane mounts. Old style, not clamshell.

Re: Mounts ECE vs Dirty Dingo
I also used late 70's 2wd truck engine stand with DD mounts. You can position your engine over a wide range with this setup. I believe you can even keep the AC down low if you keep the engine far enough forward. Mine did not fit because I have my engine moved back as far as possible. It is basically up against the firewall. I will probably do a high mount AC as well.

Re: Mounts ECE vs Dirty Dingo
Seems like everyone likes the Dirty Dingo for there adjustability.
How much further back are you able to mount the engine over the ECE mounts? Maybe 2 inches max? |

Re: Mounts ECE vs Dirty Dingo
I did not measure the distance, from where to where?
The 4L60E is longer than the TH350, because I had to move the cross member to the rear until the rear transmission mount met the mounting location. at that point I checked my column shift linkage and I aligned it with the transmission linkage mount and there is where it ended up. Tightened the bolts on the engine and it was in place. Just then I placed the drive shaft yoke in the transmission and it bolted up to the rear end, with 1+ of seal surface on the yoke. I don't know about the ECE mounts I never looked at them

Re: Mounts ECE vs Dirty Dingo
I used squarebody clamshells with dirty dingo mounts. I had a 402/th400 in it before. I slid the engine all the way up and reused my stock linkage from the th400 on the 6l80e, and didn't have to cut the driveshaft. Makes it really tight up next to the electric fans, but doable. If I had to do it over I would probably cut the driveshaft and move the engine back a little.

Re: Mounts ECE vs Dirty Dingo
Sorry for bringing up an old thread, time to get started on this swap.
Looks like everyone likes the Dirty Dingo mounts with the 73-88 factory clambshell mounts. I believe others have used CPP sheet metal mounts for 67-72 with the Dirty Dingo mounts. where is the best place to get a set of 73-88 clambshell mounts? Need v8 ones right? |

Re: Mounts ECE vs Dirty Dingo
I am using the ECE mounts with my swap. I have not reinstalled my front end, but it appears to have plenty of room for my radiator and fan setup as well as plenty of room between the engine and the firewall. So far I am pleased with my choice.

Re: Mounts ECE vs Dirty Dingo
any pics of the firewall room? I want to hide my coils on the back of the head and have tried to figure out the right mount to give me about 2 1/2" in the rear.
