Light problem!
Finally got my tail lights to work but I have another problem. When i hit the brake the right front turn signal light comes on along with the blinker I haven't started tracing the wires yet. I all new wiring except under the dash. I hoping someone already had the problem and knows the quick fix. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Re: Light problem!
I'm still running the original blinker set up in the column. I replaced all the wiring and lights except under the dash. Something seems like it's crossed. I have a new blinker switch but it's not hooked up to the cable. I haven't installed the blinker cable yet.

Re: Light problem!
What's nice is everything plugs in , and you can still purchase all the wiring harnesses needed for the 62 I replaced the front and rear harnesses and need to replace a few under the dash , I'm sure you will get it , good luck

Re: Light problem!
when it comes to lights turning on when they shouldnt or turning off when they should be on, its always the ground. always.
I got tired of chasing the ground on my taillights and just screwed a self tapping screw with a ring terminal with a length of wire to the taillight bucket, and another self tapper and ring terminal on the other end straight to the frame. fixed it permanently.

Re: Light problem!
Yeah, on my '64 Chevy II wagon, I was fighting a problem with the dash lights blinking with the flasher. Thought it was in the dash. Found it was the driver rear tail light socket. Had to make a ground to the socket and it solved the problem.
Like said above, 90% of all electrical problems on old cars/truck is bad grounds.

Re: Light problem!
I agree with the possible bad ground. However this sounds to me like it might be in the turnsignal switch since there is a blinking light involved. If I'm not mistaken, the brake lights go thru the turnsignal switch. Years ago I had an light issue that turned out to be bent/touching contacts in the turnsignal switch.

Re: Light problem!
On the wagon, I pulled out the metal grounding ring, soldered a wire to it, drilled a hole in the housing and assembled it back together. Worked great and eliminated my flashing dash light problem when the blinkers were on or stepping on the brake pedal.
