Quick question on CPP motor mounts
Hey guys . . .
Might be a dumb question but . . . I have the 85 crossmember in place (not 100% bolted yet thought) and was mocking up the motor mounts. I believe I have the right position/orientation for them, but wanted to confirm I have the correct mounting location, since I've read a few people have them in either a "forward" or "back" position. I'm guessing the photos depict the "forward" position? |

Re: Quick question on CPP motor mounts
If one wants to do the original position I guess they need to drill a new lower hole?

Re: Quick question on CPP motor mounts
Yep, they designed these for the forward locations. Just drill a hole in the crossmember for the rear location use.

Re: Quick question on CPP motor mounts
The '63-'66 trucks originally had the small blocks in the rear location. When you move the engine forward, various things that connect to the engine will need to be altered. Things such as the clutch bellcrank, radiator hoses, exhaust, bellhousing mount, if used, etc. Also moving the engine forward moves weight from the rear of the truck to the front, which is already heavier than the rear.

Re: Quick question on CPP motor mounts
Pretty much everything that I have already dealt with. And using the forward position was favorable for me as I am running a 383 with roller rockers which mean taller valve covers. In the forward position, I have tons of room between my valve covers and the firewall.
Thanks for the input Captain Fab. You are the man!! |
