BOSS 338 Questions

I'm looking to put the 338 wheels on my 91 Suburban. Id like to put the 8.5 inch in the front and 10 inch in the rear. Im unsure of which backspacing to get and I'm pretty sure I'll need a spacer to ofset the rear out some. Any info ou have would be great. I'll probably end up with a flip kit and drop spindles and springs in the front. Im not going so low to cut the back floor or remove the wheel tubs in the front

Have a 77 2wd Blazer and just ordered 10" wide with 5.25" backspace on the rear. Factory rally wheels that are on it were 8" wide with 4" back. I measured against what was on there and took my best guestimate as to how they would work. I am going to use a 295 wide tire.

I am not to the front yet as I have no engine in it and want it sitting pretty close to ride height before I measure for fronts. Hope that helps.

Since the picture, I have adjusted the rear up about 3" to where it will sit. Static drop.

gclark1 how did you lower the rear? I'm going to to 3inch spindles in the front and want the rear to match on my 91 Suburban

Just removed the overload and had the leafs de-arched.

Is there any other way besides d arching the springs to get another 1-2in of height back after doing the axle flip?

I'm trying to remember who it was, but someone used a 4x4 hanger to raise their Blazer back up a little after a flip. I'll have to search on that.

What about 2.5 inch lift spring with the flip kit?

I haven't had a chance to do a search yet, but it was something tvblazer78 did that was a pretty slick solution to the flip. I think he used next gen 4x4 hangers to raise it back up 1.5" or so. I know he was running a static lift and had it dialed in just right, I just can't remember at the moment exactly what hangers he used that were the solution. I'll look for it later today.

Does this look like it will work? Its listed for a 1996 K1500. To me it looks longer then the factory 2wd ones but Ihaven't put my hands on one yet

After looking again I'm pretty sure he's talking about 73-87(91) 4x4 hangers. I'm not sure why I'm remembering next gen.

73-87 4x4 rear hangers are taller.
This will raise the truck after a flip kit is installed.
Before you buy "lift leaf springs",... I would reverse the flip kit and buy drop leaf springs.

The Drop leafs are only listed for trucks Do you think the weight Suburban is going to cause an issue? Will They be too soft?

I got the wheels installed fronts 8.5in w/5.25 bs and rear 10 w/5.5bs. I did have to clearance the front rotor hub a little but other then that they look great. I'm doing the flip kit and installing the 96 model 4x4 rear hanger this weekend. If my math is right they will raise it about 2inches up after the flip. I'm also pulling the LS motor out of my K5 and its going in the suburban too Its going to be a crazy weeked without sleep

They worked great on my 'old '91 'burb,...

Drop leaf springs in the rear.
3" drop spindles and 1" drop springs up front.

Ok, I wasn't going crazy. Was that a 4 or 5 drop leaf? I'm guessing you still needed to notch the frame.

I did a flip on a 90 Suburban and then added a 1.5" add a leaf. Worked out great, no notch needed and probably helped out the old sagging springs. Front was a spindle and 2" spring. 20X8 front with a 255/35r20, 20X10 rear with a 275/35r20. Sorry no pics, one I did and never took pictures.
