6l80
5.3 w/6L80. When first starting my truck the transmission seems a little sluggish not wanting to shift properly but it seems like it is just first to second. It shifts but just seems like it doesn't want to, it this because it is cold? Once I get down the block it works fine. It has been this way since install and I just wanted to see if anyone is having a similar experience.

After driving it this morning, it is not that big of a deal. Just feels funny at first.

Mine shifts funny the first few starts. I think mine is because the speedometer is of about 14%. I will have the truck dyno tuned and see what happens.

After a bunch of research and talking with a few guys who tune lsx's for a living, I have been told that the 6l80 takes quite a bit of tuning to get just right. Keep us posted on the progress. I think I am going the 6l80 route myself. Did you guys have to do much cutting to install the trans?

Hi Dubnova,
I did not have to do any cutting to install the trans but the trans tunnel does need cutting if you want the trans pan to be above the frame rails. My frame rails are 9" off the ground and my trans pan is 6" off the ground which means it hangs 3" below the frame rails. I am planning on cutting my trans tunnel to raise the pan but I don't want to mess the angle up either. Anyone have any experience with this?? |

Buy a Cadillac CTSV tranny pan. It is about 1.5" shorter...

My 4l80e does just fine. I've never noticed anything with shifting it.
