Son gets to choose 1987 or 1990
some of you may be familiar with my dad's 1987 GMC. I've posted pics before. My dad also owns the white 1990 GMC and he's going to give my son whichever one he wants when he turns 16. Which would you choose?

Re: Son gets to choose 1987 or 1990
I like the 87 better too, but I have driven them both many times and that 90 is extra nice and clean. Dad keeps it in his garage and it's almost like a new truck inside and out. We call them "Blue Boy" and "Milk Cow." GTT

Re: Son gets to choose 1987 or 1990
Don't get me to lying. I actually do not know. They both have stock transmissions & rear ends. The 90 has it's stock 350 and the 87 has a new 350 replacing the original 305. GTT

I have both, and my daily is a 94 and without a doubt much more comfortable to drive. For a 16 YO I'd say the 90 and it's super clean!

Re: Son gets to choose 1987 or 1990
I am an only child. I'm 44 now and my dad is 73. They'll probably both go to me someday. Dad wants to keep the 87, but he has babied the 90 so much that he kinda hates to see it get driven by a kid with a heavy foot. He'll give my son whichever one he wants though, he's a Papaw's boy and Dad will be happy for him to drive it around. GTT

Re: Son gets to choose 1987 or 1990
That's my thoughts exactly. Love the look on the 87. I found this picture (somewhere???) of a 90s model with 80s rallys. Looks pretty cool. I think I may get the 87 rally wheels repainted silver and put them over on the 90. I have never liked those factory 90 wheels. They look like Hot Wheels wheels. Thinkin bout giving it this look.........

Re: Son gets to choose 1987 or 1990
The 87 would have more of a "cool" factor. You still see a lot of the 88s and later trucks on the road, not so many 87s and earlier, at least not nice ones.
