trick to remove light switch

the pull handle is released by pushing in the small nipple on the side of the switch body while pulling out the pull switch.
that reveals the nice stainless retainer that holds the switch to the dash cluster.
the retainer is actually 2 pieces. thin stainless and a stout piece of metal that it is formed onto it.
don't force it off. the stainless is real thin metal and it might tear.
I made a big thick screw driver out of a 5/8 wood bit.
I did not have a regular screw driver that would fit the slot provided.
made one to fit the gently curved groove .
the 5/8 wood bits thickness and the curve you grind to fit the retainer curve worked for me. just grind down the wood bits pilot point and make a gentle curve to match the retainer groove.

mine was real stuborn to get off. the 5/8 fabbed screw driver in a small battery drill did the trick.
after numerous wd40 applications and slipped regular screw driver efforts.... the fabbed screw driver worked good.
becareful not to bugger it up because these retainers are not available aftermarket that I could find.

also if you want to take cig lighter out.... unscrew the small nut in the center of the backside of the unit and it will come apart in 2 pieces + washers etc.
