Rally wheels & hub caps?

I have rally wheels on my 85, and I picked up a set of hub caps off of a 76. I would like to know if there is any way for these to be on a rally wheel, just held on with tape for mock up. I think it would look pretty cool..

I like that idea also, but never could figure out a way to securely hold the hub caps on.

No easy way to do it. The caps use nubs that are part of the wheel stamping to hold them on.
The alternate way; hot rodder style, weld some nubs to your exisiting wheels if you really want to use them. [and by that I mean build up some weld in the appropriate places]

Where can I find a set of them? And how do the clips hold to the wheel?

I have a set of 8 lug steelies from a parts truck that have the Nuba like that for caps, could I cut them off and weld them to my rallies?

Re: Rally wheels & hub caps?

you have to drill and tap the wheel for them cause they are held on by screws

Or you can order 15x10 plain steel wheels from Summit Racing http://m.summitracing.com/parts/wvi-62-5005042

Re: Rally wheels & hub caps?

I assume the backspace of the early standard rims is the same as rallys(there are enough threads on here if you search) I just had the guy add 4" extra dish

No. You build up weld bead for the lip of the hubcap to hold onto.
Your rally wheels are sized differently from a stock steelie, probably will only need a small bead to hold onto the cap. I'm also wondering if those vw clips will work with the stock rally given the different shape of the dish.

Re: Rally wheels & hub caps?

My buddy welded nuts to my wheels and it works great. No problems at all.
