1959 3/4 ton dually
Hi,
My name is Lonnie and I just picked up a 59 GMC dually with factory rear fender extensions and power steering. How common were these items? Last edited by Lon Dart; 07-01-2014 at 06:20 PM. Reason: Add photo |

I think it would have been very difficult to create in a shop.

Re: 1959 3/4 ton dually
Lonnie,
That has the potential to be a truly unique truck. I like it...a lot. What are your plans for it? PLEASE keep it on the stock frame, etc. I think restored would be nice because it IS so unique. I've been into Task Force trucks a loong time and I've never seen those fender extensions, no matter whether they're factory or otherwise. They look to have been very well done. On the other hand? Updating it to a modern Duramax diesel and Allison tranny would be excellent too.

A .060 over 454 with a TH400 is available but cosmetically I want to keep it as stock as possible. The running gear will remain except for under the hood.

Re: 1959 3/4 ton dually
bought my first 58 in 1972 and thought i had seen it all, have never seen those fender extensions
never seen a 3/4 t dually either, it is most likely period correct, though probably an aftermarket coach builder. purpose built like the 3 door cabs or napco 4x4 trucks for a utility/railroad/fleet
