AD Cab with Modern Floor/Firewall Melding...Thoughts???
I recently bumbled and stumbled across BBEEP's impressive build combining a '52 Burb and 2002 Envoy, when someone brought it to the top:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=348244 I thought the looks of that New floor and firewall were just incredible.Nice to work with. On my soon to start '53 project,I need to replace a decent amount of existing floor, and also want to modify my firewall and tranny hump for more clearance for the 6.0 and 4L80e.I also want to change to a more modern dash with A/C and gauges that work with the existing wiring and computer from the 6.0 (2006). Anyone else think it may help in the long run to just find the right firewall/floor/dash to make for a nicer and easier project. My truck is going to sit on a 2000s 3500HD chassis,so the width of that doesn't make for a sensible changeover, but maybe something else does? Personally, that sounds like an awful lot of work with a whole lot of time invested. I would get your frame squared away before worrying about your firewall and dash. Once the engine is set into your frame then you can see how much firewall/trans tunnel mods you'll need.
With that being said there are some good builds where guys have have modified their dashes to mate donor's gauges so it can be done. But boy that sounds like a lot of work, but hey what's the best way to eat an elephant...one bite at a time. |
