where does this go? positive battery cable.
i noticed an eyelet not hooked up on my positive battery cable while i was under my truck today. I saw that there was an eyelet going to the frame right where the ground for the negative cable goes, then there was another eyelet that was attached to one of the fuel pump bolts. Then this one not hooked up and then the rest of the cable went to the starter. any idea what it should be hooked too?

Re: where does this go? positive battery cable.
You should trace out that wire to find out where the other end goes. It could be something important, or it could be a wire that was abandoned in place by the previous owner. You don't want to start hooking things blindly to the hot side of the battery.
You could also do a function check on your truck and see if anything stopped working recently, this will give you a likely starting point to find the wire. If the wire goes into the harness, then you can use an ohmeter to trace it on the other end.

its not a random wire its on the battery cable not the harness. It's not from the previous owner I changed the motor last year and this never got hooked back up

I would still try to find out where the other end of the wire goes before hooking it up. If everything works without it, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: where does this go? positive battery cable.
the negative battery cable should go to the block..
I and other folks add a extra ground to the frame from the block also.. you said "the rest of the cable went to the starter" does it go to a ground or hot side of the starter??

Is this what you are looking for? The clip that holds the + battery cable to the frame on the way to the starter?

maybe not the first one in your picture that one is hooked up but further back it looks like it's attached again that would be out where it is on the cable

Re: where does this go? positive battery cable.
Not sure if earlier trucks were the same as my '86 but the positive battery cable routes to a clip on the frame then to one on the fuel pump adapter plate then two studs on the oil pan before it terminates at the starter.
